I find this really aoinynng on the ipad. The standard layout allows faster scanning of results with many more per page on the ipad screen, with the larger font I find I have to actively 'digest' or pay more attention to each line result at normal reading distance individually and am continually scrolling for more which is time consuming and frustrating. If users need larger type the pinch zoom feature is already there. I'm sure this makes sense in terms of layout and format etc the results are nicely proportional to the page and screen area on my device but the whole point of a search function is to provide targeted and relevant results as fast as possible with minimal distraction and In that sense I find this UI just gets in the way. In theory this should be an 'improvement' but in practice I find it a hindrance. I am just commenting on how this functions on the ipad of course, it may be a blessing for somebody with a 2 inch smartphone. So, come on google if you guys like it, use it, if some of us don't just please give us an option to switch it off!
