Purely linguistic question - can Members of parliament be really called Deputies in English? This I have never seen before.

To assume Russia's Duma as real "parliament" would be too ... simplified :) So, it doesn't matter what some 360-s say to 15-s etc. ... they are not deciding things, they are just voting "FOR" things they are "encouraged" to vote ... In other words - everything that is needed to decide is decided in Kreml ... At the moment "someone" in Kreml will decide that things are going as they "should not go" we will witness "news" that for ensuring "stability" different extraordinary measures have been taken in Tatarstan ... and that's it ! Kreml are experts of provocations and they will not hesitate to do it now, specially after Abkhazia and S-Osetia cases. The theory of Rafael Khakimov might be really good - unfortunately it works just in case you have civilized counterparty to talk with ... This is not the case unfortunately

Tatar numbers are increasing or stay equal, but russian numbers are decreasing at very rapid rate. Tatarstan alsou are one of the richest regions in Russian federation, and becouse of Kremlin politics, they sponsor poorer russian majority regions. So sooner or later tatars would remember they national identity, and at least would ask for more rigts. In Latvia we alspu should not forget latgalian identity.

Do you think, Russian-speaking citizens of Latvia should lobby to have their passports in Russian then?

"And he added that "if in Australia, there is a single Estonian in a class and he demands that he be taught in Estonian, the government is obligated to provide him with that opportunity." Please fact-check this. Readers, this does not mean that all schooling can take place in a non-english language. It is only for the same number of hours you would spend in an equivalent language class as a normal part of secondary school elective i.e. english language is the country''s official language, and the schooling system may provide language classes for students to learn another language - french, german, japanese, or manadarin etc etc ...or estonian, depending on class size and teacher availability. Same number of hours per week as any other elective class. Of course, if Estonian is the student's native language, it would be more appropriate to teach more advanced Estonian, but again this would not give any right to choose to do all schooling in Estonian.
