yeah, and that too. what speaks to the strength of your hypothesis is also, in my opinion, the absurd claim one or two of this observer's blogs back that Russia 'is no longer interested in Baltics'. haha. what I regret most is only how much we ourselves have helped to be a genuinely lame state. but well, who is one foreign gentleman to judge, on the other hand, the state of our statehood. The smartass seems to suggest that Russia is The Real State, while everyone else who got rid of its rule - isn't. That is quite in line the official Kremlin policy. Remember Lavrov last year calling Georgia a "virtual project". The funniest thing, though, is that in accordance to criteria he puts forward, Russia too is a "fake state", and so is Belgium and possibly a lot of other countries too. Silly, thought so very Putin-Russian, but also a worrying sign. Remember USSR invading Poland in 1939 after making rather similar statements. If Georgia, Moldova, and some other states are "fake" - who will care if Russia "picks them up" under some good looking propaganda pretext.

thanks, this thorough commentary couldn't be more relevant for this - one fake state indeed, a state dangerous to itself, which means - maximally hurtful for its population. almost as hurtful for the population as it gets. I myself have begun to think of us in sad terms, one of which is coined by Irish literary master mister John Banville. Namely, The Enemy Within is the concept this reflection turns around; before, we could blame Russia and Soviet empire for everything, now, however, this sham of a state is almost entirely national made in Latvia creation. and we will have to be also a failed state. before we begin from nil and this time - launch for real.

Most of the modern Latin American nations fit the criterion of fake states. According to these standards only Western Europe can lay claim to being composed of genuinely independent states. We can aspire to achieve the western model, which is an impossibility for the eastern neighbor.
