I doubt if there are many persons in Russian orthodox church truly caring about church itself. If I am not mistaken since1917 orthodox church has been strongly connected to Russia's state security organs and secret service.

I would have to argue.Since the times of Peter the Mad russkies never had a national religion.Their Russian Orthodox,whatever that means,church always was an unimportant state controlled department of religious affairs and Russian clergy always consisted of majority of godless state officials and minority of Rasputin type fanatics with at least third of closet gays in both groups.As a result most of russkies now are true pagans or heretics while paying a lip service to their so called church.All this succession strugle is a very minor matter of the current Russian politics on the background of capo di tutti capi Vova Putj desperate attempts to save his gangs treasury.
